Kathleen Voysey clinic

The Kathleen Voysey Clinic is situated at the Presbyterian Church in Berea Road, and is run by the Musgrave Methodist Church.

The clinic is open every Thursday morning from 8-1pm and is staffed entirely by volunteers from various churches.

All patients are treated free-of-charge, as most of them are homeless and living on the streets.

This clinic continues to grow with the number of patients increasing every week. It is staffed entirely by volunteers (mostly retired), which include 6 nursing sisters, a pharmacist, 4 doctors and an African nursing sister who deals mostly with Aids patients. There is also around 10 administrative staff, who deal with the clerical side of things.

The clinic treats all types of ailments and those who cannot be treated are referred to another clinic or hospital. In addition to the medical treatment, HIV counselling is offered to the 83+ HIV patients currently seen on a regular basis. Also, all KVC patients receive free dental treatment (including extractions and fillings), generously provided by King George V Hospital.

We dispense medicines for all kinds of ailments, those we cannot help are referred to other hospitals and clinics. We dress all kinds of wounds and are always in need of guaze, bandages, elastoplast, cotton wool, dressings, salvon, etc as well as socks and soap.

Should you require further infromation or should you be able assist in any way, please contact Chris Gibson on (031) 266-6464, Brenda Serviatis on (031) 312-7967 or Jane Clark on (031) 201-2668.
